Pick A Little - 12" Quilt Block

Fabric Key:

Cutting Instructions:

Cut four 2-1/2" squares.

Cut four 2-7/8" squares, and two 4-7/8" squares.

Cut four 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles, and four 2-7/8" squares.

Cut two 4-7/8" squares.

Sewing Instructions:

Step 1:  Using a pencil and ruler, draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of all green 2-7/8" squares and yellow 4-7/8" squares.

Step 2:  With right sides together, layer a green  2-7/8" square on a red 2-7/8" square.  Stitch a 1/4" seam on each side of the diagonal line that you drew in Step 1.  Cut apart on the drawn line and press seam allowance toward the darker fabric.  Trim points.  Repeat three times more for a total of eight green/red half-square triangles.

Step 3:  With right sides together, layer a yellow 4-7/8" square on a red 4-7/8" square.  Stitch a 1/4" seam on each side of the diagonal line that you drew in Step 1.  Cut apart on the drawn line and press seam allowance toward the darker fabric.  Trim points.  Repeat once more for a total of four yellow/red half-square triangles.

Step 4:  Stitch two green/red half-square triangles together as shown below (do this 4 times):

Step 5:  Arrange yellow/red half-square triangles, green/red half-square triangle units, green rectangles, and the brown corner squares as shown in Diagram 1.  With right sides together and using a scant 1/4" seam, sew together to form rows as shown in Diagram 2. Sew rows as shown in Diagram 3 to finish the block.
