FREE
EMAIL SOLUTIONS JUST GOT BETTER
Tired of junk mail
clogging your mailbox and causing legitimate messages
to bounce? Or your email storage limit is so small
that a couple of photos of the grandkids use up
all of your space? There is good news for you!
Yahoo
has recently expanded the storage capacity for free
email accounts from 4 megabytes to 100 megabytes and
Excite
will soon be raising their storage limit from 3 megabytes
to 125 megabytes. Hotmail
will be increasing their email storage capacity
from 2 megabytes to 250 megabytes this Fall.
All of this is in response
to Google's new free email service "Gmail"
which will offer an astounding 1 gigabyte (1,000 megabytes)
of storage space. Gmail is not available to the
general public at this time, but you can sign up for
updates about Gmail on this
page.
At this time, only
Yahoo
has expanded storage capacity available. If
you need a solution right now, I recommend Yahoo.
I've had a Yahoo mail account since 1997 and use
it for several newsletters and email discussion
groups without any problems. It also has a great
spam blocker...you identify spam as it comes in and
it will dump all messages from that sender into a bulk
folder that will not count against your email storage
limit. Here's another plus for Yahoo: they
host our newsletter.
If you subscribe to the newsletter with a Yahoo
email address, you are guaranteed to receive it.
If you already have
an Excite
or Hotmail
email account, you'll get your upgrade in the near future.
Remember, all free
email services require that you use them. Don't
sign up and forget it, because your account could be
deleted for inactivity. Each provider has their own
criteria for determining inactivity. Be sure to
read the terms of service for the provider that you
choose for more details.
