Sewing Instructions:
Step 1:
Layer a Color E (cream) 3-7/8" triangle on a Color C (tan) 3-7/8" triangle, right sides together. Stitch as shown below. Press the seam allowance toward the darker fabric and trim points. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 3-1/2".)

Step 2:
Layer a Color E (cream) 2-7/8" triangle on a Color C (tan) 2-7/8" triangle, right sides together. Stitch as shown below. Press the seam allowance toward the darker fabric and trim points. Make 8. (Each unit should measure 2-1/2".)

Step 3:
Stitch a Color B (pink) 2-7/8" triangle to one short side of a Color E (cream) 5-1/4" triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the darker fabric and trim point. Repeat on the opposite, as shown. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 2-1/2" x 4-1/2".)

Step 4: Stitch a Color C (tan) 2-7/8" triangle to the left and right sides of a Color A (red) 3-3/8" square. Press the seam allowances toward the darker Color A fabric and trim points. Next, stitch a Color C (tan) 2-7/8" triangle to the top and bottom of the same Color A (red) square, as shown below. Press the seam allowances toward the Color A (red) fabric and trim points. Make 1. (This unit should measure 4-1/2" x 4-1/2".)

Step 5: Layer a Color A (red) 2-7/8" triangle on a Color C (tan) 2-7/8" triangle, right sides together. Stitch as shown below. Press the seam allowance toward the darker fabric and trim points. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 2-1/2".)

Step 6: Stitch a Color A (red) 2-7/8" triangle to one short side of a Color B (pink) 5-1/4" triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the darker fabric and trim point. Repeat on the opposite, as shown. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 2-1/2" x 4-1/2".)

Step 7: Arrange two Step 2 units, one Step 5 unit, and one 2-1/2" Color E (cream) square as shown below. Sew into rows and press the seam allowances in opposite directions for each row. Sew the two rows together and press the seam allowance up, away from the Step 5 unit. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 4-1/2" x 4-1/2")

Step 8: Arrange one Step 3 unit and one Step 6 unit, as shown below. Stitch together and press the seam allowance down, toward the Step 6 unit. Make 4. (Each unit should measure 4-1/2" x 4-1/2")

Step 9: Arrange the Step 4, Step 7, and Step 8 units, as shown below. Sew into rows. Press seam allowances for top and bottom rows toward the center unit. Press the seam allowance for the middle row away from the center unit. Sew the rows together to finish the block center (not shown). Press the seam allowance away from the center row.

Step 10: Stitch a Step 1 unit to the left and right ends of a Color D (green) 3-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangle, as shown below. Press the seam allowances toward the Color D fabric. (Each unit should measure 3-1/2" x 18-1/2".)

Step 11: Stitch a Color D (green) 3-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangle the left and right sides of the Step 9 unit. Press the seam allowances toward the Color D fabric.

Step 12: Stitch a Color D (green) 3-1/2" x 12-1/2" rectangle the left and right sides of the Step 9 unit. Press the seam allowances toward the Color D fabric.

Your block should
measure 18-1/2" at this point. It will measure 18" when it is sewn into the
quilt.
