Sewing Instructions: Step 1: Using a ruler and a rotary cutter, cut each 4-7/8" square once diagonally. Step 2: Using a ruler and a rotary cutter, cut each 5-1/4" square twice diagonally. Step 3: Stitch a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle to a Color D (yellow) Step 1 triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color D triangle and trim points. Make 2.
Step 4: Stitch a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle to a Color B (red) Step 1 triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color B triangle and trim points. Make 2.
Step 5: Stitch a Color C (green) Step 2 triangle to a Color A (dk blue) Step 2 triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color A triangle and trim points. Make 4.
Step 6: Stitch a Color C (green) Step 2 triangle to a Color E (cream) Step 2 triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color E triangle and trim points. Make 2.
Step 7: Stitch a Color E (cream) Step 2 triangle to a Color C (green) Step 2 triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color E triangle and trim points. Make 2.
Step 8: Stitch a Step 5 triangle unit to a Color D (yellow) Step 1 triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color D triangle and trim points. Make 2.
Step 9: Stitch a Step 5 triangle unit to a Color B (red) Step 1 triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color B triangle and trim points. Make 2.
Step 10: Stitch a Step 6 triangle unit to a Color A (dk blue) Step 1 triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color A triangle and trim points. Make 2.
Step 11: Stitch a Step 7 triangle unit to a Color A (dk blue) Step 1 triangle, as shown below. Press seam allowance toward the Color A triangle and trim points. Make 2.
Step 12: Arrange the pieced units and 4-1/2" squares as shown below. Sew first into rows, pressing seam allowances in opposite directions for each row (example: top row - press to left, next row - press to right, etc.). Then sew rows together to complete the block. Press seam allowances in one direction.
Your block should measure 16-1/2" at this point. It will measure 16" when it is sewn into the quilt. |
