Sewing Instructions:

Step 1:  Using a ruler and a rotary cutter, cut each 4-7/8" square once diagonally.

Step 2:  Stitch a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle to a Color C (green) Step 1 triangle, as shown below.  Press seam allowance toward the Color C triangle and trim point.  Make 4.

Step 3:   Stitch a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle to a Color A (dk blue) Step 1 triangle, as shown below.  Press seam allowance toward the Color A triangle and trim point.  Make 2.

Step 4: Stitch a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle to the right side of a Step 3 half-square triangle.  Press seam toward half-square triangle and trim point.  Next, stitch a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle to the bottom side of the same Step 3 half-square triangle.  Press seam toward the half-square triangle and trim point.  Make 2.

Step 5:  Stitch a Color D (yellow) Step 1 triangle to a Step 4 triangle, as shown below.  Press seam allowance toward the Color D triangle and trim points.  Make 2.

Step 6:  Arrange two Color B (red) 4-1/2" squares and two Step 2 half-square triangles as shown below.  Sew first into rows, pressing the seam allowance toward the Color B squares.  Next, sew the rows together and press the seam allowance to one side to finish the unit.  Make 2.

Step 7:  Following the diagram below, arrange the block units as shown below.  Sew into rows and press seam allowance toward the Step 5 unit.  Sew rows together to finish the block. and press the seam allowance in one direction.

Your block should measure 16-1/2" at this point.  It will measure 16" when it is sewn into the quilt.
