Sewing Instructions:
Step 1:
Using a ruler and a rotary cutter, cut two Color E (cream) 4-7/8"
squares and two Color B (red) 4-7/8"
squares once diagonally.

Step 2:
With right sides together, layer a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle on
a Color B (red) Step 1 triangle.
Stitch together using a 1/4"
seam. Press the seam allowance
toward the darker fabric and trim points.
Repeat three more times for a
total of four Color E/B half-square
triangles.

Step 3:
Stitch a Color A (dk. blue) 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangle
to a Step 2 half-square triangle
as shown below. Press seam
allowance toward the darker fabric.
Repeat three more times for
a total of four.

Next,
sew a Color A (dk. blue) 2-1/2"
x 6-1/2" rectangle to the bottom
of the half-square triangle as shown
below. Press seam allowance
toward the darker fabric. Repeat
three more times for a total of
four.

Step 4: Using
a pencil and ruler, draw a diagonal
line on the wrong side of eight Color
C (green) 2-1/2" squares.

Place
a Color C (green) 2-1/2" square
on the right end of a Color E (cream)
2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangle,
right sides together. Stitch
along the drawn line and trim the
excess fabric 1/4" above the
seam. Press the seam allowance
toward the darker fabric and trim
points. Next, place a Color
C (green) 2-1/2" square on
the left end of the Color E (cream)
2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangle,
right sides together. Stitch
along the drawn line and trim the
excess fabric 1/4" above the
seam. Press the seam allowance
toward the darker fabric and trim
points. Repeat three more
times for a total of four flying
geese units.

Step 5: With right sides together
and using a 1/4" seam allowance,
sew a Color D (yellow) 2-1/2"
x 4-1/2" rectangle to a Step
4 flying geese unit as shown below.
Press seam allowance toward
the Color D rectangle. Next,
sew a Color C (green) 2-1/2"
x 4-1/2" rectangle to the Color
D (yellow) rectangle as shown below.
Press the seam allowance toward
the Color D (yellow) rectangle.
Repeat three more times for
a total of four.

Step 6: Following
the diagram below, arrange the block units as shown below.
Sew into rows and press seam allowances toward the center
on the top and bottom row and away from the center on the center
row. Sew rows together to finish the center block and
press the seam allowances away from the center row.

Your block should
measure 16-1/2" at this point. It will measure 16" when it is sewn into the
quilt.
