Step 4: Stitch a Color E (cream) Step 1 triangle to the upper left and lower right side of the Step 3 unit, as shown below.  Press the seam allowances toward the Color E triangles and trim points.  Repeat on the upper right and lower left sides, as shown below.  Press the seam allowances toward the Color E triangles and trim points.  Make 1.

Step 5:   First, using a ruler and a pencil, draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of all Color C (green) 2-1/2" squares.  Next, place a Color C (green) 2-1/2" square in the upper left corner of a Color E (cream) 4-1/2" square, right sides together.  Sew along the line that was drawn at the beginning of this step.  Trim away the excess fabric 1/2" above the seam and press the seam allowance toward the Color C (green) fabric.  Repeat in the lower right corner, as shown below.  Make 4.

Step 9:   Arrange the pieced units, as shown below.  Sew first into rows, pressing seam allowances in toward the center unit for the top and bottom row and away from the center for the center row.  Next, sew rows together to complete the block.  Press seam allowances away from the center.
