Cutting Instructions:

*Fabric:

Cut:

A (Lt. Orange)

Cut eight 2-1/2" strips.  Subcut into eight 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strips.

A (Lt. Orange)

Cut one 2-1/2" strip.  Subcut into two 2-1/2" x 18-1/2" strips.

A (Lt. Orange)

Cut two 2-1/2" strips.  Subcut into two 2-1/2" x 34-1/2" strips.

A (Lt. Orange)

Cut two 2-1/2" strips.  Subcut into two 2-1/2" x 24-1/2" strips and two 8-1/2" strips.

D (Green)

Cut six 2-1/2" strips.  Subcut into sixteen 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strips.

D (Green)

Cut eighteen 2-1/2" strips.  Subcut into 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strips.

D (Green)

Cut one 2-1/2" strip.  Subcut into five 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles.

D (Green)

Cut two 2-1/2" strips.  Subcut into two 2-1/2" x 38-1/2" strips.

D (Green)

Cut two 2-1/2" strips.  Subcut into two 2-1/2 x 28-1/2" strips.

E (Orange)

Cut four 6-1/2" strips.  Subcut into four 6-1/2" x 40-1/2".

E (Orange)

Cut two 6-1/2" strips.  Subcut into two 6-1/2" x 20-1/2" strips.

E (Orange)

Cut two 6-1/2" strips.  Subcut into two 6-1/2" x 22-1/2" strips.

Sewing Instructions:

Sashing:  

Step 1:  Assemble the long Color D (Green) sashing strips by sewing a Color D (Green) 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strip to a 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" strip along the short end.  Press seam open.  Repeat four more times for a total of five Color D (Green) 2-1/2" x 44-1/2" horizontal sashing strips.

Step 2:  Using the illustration below as your guide, sew the Color D (Green) 2-1/2" x 12-1/2" sashing strips and sampler blocks together to create four rows of three blocks.  Press the seam allowances toward the sashing strips.  Next, sew the rows together using the long Color D (Green) sashing strips that you made in Step 1.  Press the seam allowances toward the sashing strips.

Color A Border #1:  

Step 1:  Assemble the strips for this border as follows:

  • Sew a Color A (lt. orange) 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strip to a 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" strip along the short end.  Press seam open.  Repeat for a total of two.  (These will be used for the top and bottom border.)
  • Sew a Color A (lt. orange) 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strip to a 2-1/2" x 18-1/2" strip along the short end.  Press seam open.  Repeat for a total of two.  (These will be used for the left and right borders.)

Step 2:  Sew the longer strips to the left and right sides of the quilt center.  Press the seam allowance toward the Color A fabric.  Sew the shorter strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center.  Press the seam allowance toward the Color A fabric.

Color E Border:

Step 1:  Assemble the strips for this border as follows:

  • Sew a Color E (orange) 6-1/2" x 40-1/2" strip to a 6-1/2" x 20-1/2" strip along the short end.  Press seam open.  Repeat for a total of two.  (These will be used for the top and bottom border.)
  • Sew a Color E (orange) 6-1/2" x 40-1/2" strip to a 6-1/2" x 22-1/2" strip along the short end.  Press seam open.  Repeat for a total of two.  (These will be used for the left and right borders.)

Step 2:  Sew the longer strips to the left and right sides of the quilt center.  Press the seam allowance toward the Color E fabric.  Sew the shorter strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center.  Press the seam allowance toward the Color E fabric.

Color A Border #2:

Step 1:  Assemble the strips for this border as follows:

  • Sew a Color A (lt. orange) 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strip to a 2-1/2" x 24-1/2" strip along the short end.  Press seam open.  Repeat for a total of two.  (These will be used for the top and bottom border.)
  • Sew a Color A (lt. orange) 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strip to a 2-1/2" x 34-1/2" strip along the short end.  Press seam open.  Repeat for a total of two.  (These will be used for the left and right borders.)

Step 2:  Sew the longer strips to the left and right sides of the quilt center.  Press the seam allowance toward the Color A fabric.  Sew the shorter strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center.  Press the seam allowance toward the Color A fabric.

Color D Border:

Step 1:  Assemble the strips for this border as follows:

  • Sew a Color D (green) 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strip to a 2-1/2" x 28-1/2" strip along the short end.  Press seam open.  Repeat for a total of two.  (These will be used for the top and bottom border.)
  • Sew a Color D (green) 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strip to a 2-1/2" x 38-1/2" strip along the short end.  Press seam open.  Repeat for a total of two.  (These will be used for the left and right borders.)

Step 2:  Sew the longer strips to the left and right sides of the quilt center.  Press the seam allowance toward the Color D fabric.  Sew the shorter strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center.  Press the seam allowance toward the Color D fabric.

Finishing:

Step 1:  Layer your backing, batting, and quilt top.  Baste and quilt, and bind as desired.  (Note:  the leftover 2-1/2" x 40-1/2" strips are for the binding.)
